- All Fridays in Lent are days of abstinence.
- Fasting means eating only one full meal with two smaller meals, which together do not equal the full meal. No snacks or eating between meals. Fasting obliges Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59.
- Abstinence means eating no meat nor soup nor gravy made from meat. Abstinence obliges all Catholics over the age of 14. Sickness, hard manual labor, pregnancy, etc., automatically excuse a person from these obligations.
- Nevertheless, it should be pointed out that these are serious obligations. In cases of doubt or question, the priest who hears a person’s confession should be consulted.

Charitable Giving Presentation & Dinner – January 10th
You are invited to attend a special dinner and presentation hosted by Scott Yates at the Catholic Foundation of Southern Nebraska is offering a dinner and presentation on January 10th at 6:00 p.m. at Lourdes Central Catholic.
St. Mary’s parish in Nebraska City traditionally hosts the Foundation about once a year to provide a presentation on a planned giving related topic. Their presentation is not specific to Lourdes Central Catholic School and the Foundation is not a fundraising group. They simply want to provide you with information to help area parishioners understand methods of strategic charitable giving that will hopefully benefit our local Catholic schools, churches, organizations, etc.
We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity!

All Saints Day – Wednesday, November 1st
All Saints Day – Holy Day of Obligation
This Wednesday, November 1st, we celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints, a holy day of obligation in the Catholic Church. This is a special day in which we honor the saints who point us to heaven and remind us that each one of us is called to holiness.
Bishop Conley invites you to take one minute of your time to watch and listen to his short All Saints Day video message for you. Click here to watch the video message.
Saint John Henry Cardinal Newman and all the saints in heaven with God, please pray for us!
Stewardship of Prayer Campaign Results
Our “Stewardship of Prayer” campaign was held in September. The goal of this campaign was for every parishioner to renew or commit to at least one or more different activities of prayer.
We are pleased to share the results of the campaign with you. Click here to view the results from the “Stewardship of Prayer” campaign.
Our parish has a lot of very committed individuals, and when we pool our resources together (prayer, talents and treasure), we can see that many, many people are responding back to God by acknowledging and thanking Him for His goodness to us.
